Both Cycles Headed Downstream

In Recent days, the stock market has been shifting downstream. A light is emerging at the end of the tunnel but it all looks red to me. In the past two weeks, I have shifted my focus from buying equities to shorting the Nasdaq. I believe that earnings have been slowing down, showing the overall slowdown of the economy. My theory why the Stock market has been rising almost to 14,000, was because the fear of the housing market. All the people involved in the housing market shifted their money to the Stock Market. But, now what? With both the housing market and Stock market in a downtrend, where do we look for growth? For right now, the best advice I can give is that you should find specific stocks that are expanding, but even then interest rates could hurt their expansion. I believe we will see red for a while and in the best case scenario, Sideways action from the equity market.

Jump Ship!

Anyone who bought shares of MAMA when I recommended it on my site should sell your shares now! You have gained more than 200% in a company that is very weak and in a turnaround process. It is time to sell your shares and not be a pig, because pigs get slaughtered in this game.
Recommendation: Sell

Jamba is Juiced

I know a lot of people don't think that Jamba INC. (JMBA) is worth anything because of all these stock warrants out there, approximately 18 million. But I think Jamba will do well. Its a growth stock, with 55% of its stores in California and pretty much the rest of its company only in the West coast area, Jamba still has a lot of expanding to do. Once it starts to expand to the East coast, I believe, if this is done correctly the company has huge growth potential in its stock price. The warrants do worry me a little, but I think this company will be part of a huge story on Wall Street, because Wall St. always loves a growth stock.

Heating up the Noodles

NWD is heating up their noodles as the stock price continues to climb. This might be our last week that we are able to buy under $2, I recently just added to my position at around $1.75. I think this stock is going to keep investors attracted and hopefully attract some institutional investors.

6 month Price Target:$2.50-$2.90

Nutrition!

Here at Stocks by Ira we like to take a look at companies that are in the turnaround mode. Nutrition 21(NXXI), looks like it is ready to swing for the fences as its company changed its whole business model from selling ingredients to selling consumer health products. While for the quarter the loss widened it was due in part by getting their brand out there with sales and marketing expenses. On a good note, Revenue increased 30%, all the company needs to do now is cut costs and they will be in business.

Can MAMA Turn Around Her Kitchen?

MAMA.com, a search engine trying to gain ground has seemingly made a small turnaround. Although reported a pretty weak quarter, all things considered, it looks like it is making all the right moves to come out of this dark hole. They just settled a class-action lawsuit, and have just announced the opening of a new web site MAMAjobs.com, another segment of their business. I think that if they can continue to restructure and make all the right moves I think MAMA can tidy up her kitchen.
I rate this a "hold" to a "cautious buy"

Thanksgiving Update

Thanksgiving is the time when we reflect at the meal and mention to our families what we are thankful for. For some it might be a new girlfriend, for some a new car ect. But for us bloggers here at Stocks By Ira, we have to be thankful for the unbelievable returns that AOB has given us. Since the mention and recommendation to buy AOB, the stock has been up 78% in less than 2 months. As we continue to move forward here at Stocks By Ira, we need to always be thankful for these spectacular returns and not be greedy. As the famous Cramer from the show "Mad Money" always says, "Pigs get slaughtered."

dELiA*s

Anyways I was trying to keep myself busy one day by reading some news on various different stocks and I found myself reading an article which mentioned the retail company, dELiA*s. The thing I like about this company is not only does it target key groups such as teenage girls through its stores in malls and outlets, it also targets teenage boys, selling footwear, snowboards and skateboards through the internet and catalogs. Also I feel pretty good mentioning this stock on my page because insiders are buying up this stock, which shows they have a lot of faith in where the company is headed.

Nooooooodles

I have been following this company for three years now and I seen it grow and grow. They have a very strong brand name in China for instant noodles but New Dragon Asia(NWD) is now changing the game. They are expanding into parts of China they have not tapped into, plus they are now distributing their products to Europe. This will help the top and bottom line significantly. Look for huge numbers over the next 6-9 months on results from the expansion of their business.

What I'm Buying

I am buying two companies right now:
AOB and EGY.
EGY is getting moved from the AMEX to the NYSE. I expect profits and share price to rise in the near future with all these new and recent sites that they have explored for drilling.
Current Price: $7.20
As for AOB: This one is a gem, I personally own it.
Expect this one to have a huge return this coming year. This plant based pharmaceutical firm has really stepped up its branding and marketing in recent years and dont expect it to stop. This company is in the right industry, "Dietary Supplements." Through aquisitions and strong brand development this company's profits have soared.

Play Ball!!!!

The first stock up to bat:

My first stock pick is going to be a little bit of a risky play, but I really think this one will do well over the next eight quarters. Rite Aid's acquisition of 1,858 Brooks and Eckerd stores will benefit Rite Aid in my opinion. According to an analyst at Credit Suisse, Edward Kelly, it will double Rite Aid's pre-tax earnings, "We believe the deal will almost double pre-tax earnings…increase the free cash flow yield to about 3 percent from zero and have almost no impact on the adjusted debt." But on the other hand there are those analyst's who disagree. According to Morgan Stanley analyst Mark Wiltamuth, he believes Rite Aid is still a turnaround story and he says, "As neither has been successful at executing a meaningful store-level turnaround, we expect the market to take "show me" attitude to this transaction." He also says that it is weak and an underperformer compared to its competitors, Walgreens and CVS.
After watching an interview with Ms. Mary F. Sammons, CEO of Rite Aid, I believe in her and her strategies. She says that this acquisition will really have no impact on long-term debt and that this move will only help the struggling Rite Aid continue its turnaround. I believe in this company and so should you. If Ms. Sammons and Rite Aid deliver, this stock could be huge for investors. I rate this one a "buy" with a Price Target of $5.50 over the next 8-10 quarters.
Current Price: $4.80

Stock Picks

This Blog will be designed for the people who don't have time to research stocks in the stock market. My name is Ira and I will pick the "diamonds hidden in the rough", or shall we say $20 stocks and under that I think will do well over the next six months to a year. I also will write random things expressing my feelings about the markets from time to time. Let the picking begin!!!!!
